City Commits $2 Million to Burlington Plan

Three years after the Burlington community came together through a series of public input sessions hosted by the Design Center, allowing us to create the Burlington Enhancement Plan, the City of Knoxville is making sure the plan comes to fruition.

Mayor Indya Kincannon proposed - and City Council approved - two million dollars in the 2021-2022 budget toward renovations in the Burlington area. While final details are still being decided, the main requests from the community included things such as wider sidewalks, historic street lamps, street trees, and neighborhood signage and banners. Full details on the project can be found on our project page here.

We're excited to see this historic main street in our city get redeveloped, and we are grateful to have been part of this community-led process!
