This is the second installment our new series, 'From our Files', where we take a look back at some of the treasures we've found in the trove of files at the Design Center office. The first sketch, seen above, is of a block of Cumberland Avenue in Knoxville from 1982 (forty years ago exactly!).
We hope the designs and sketches you see here inspire you and remind you of the importance of community design and planning!
The two plans above show a design for a community plan and public park in the town of Mascot from all the back in Y2K (that was the year 2000 for all you Gen Zers out there).
Speaking of parks, here are two more sketches for a park; this time much smaller in scale and located in the Mechanicsville neighborhood of Knoxville! Below you can see a beautiful sketch someone did of the historic fire station in Mechanicsville, which is still standing today!
That's all we have for this month, but stay tuned to see more of our old files in April!
