The ETCDC had extensive involvement with the pre and post-planning for the 1982 World’s Fair. The ETCDC led the effort to preserve the Victorian Houses on 11th Street and Laurel Avenue. The ETCDC then operated the Appropriate Community Technology (A.C.T.) exhibit in one of the restored houses. This exhibit highlighted the use of solar technology, rainwater collection, home gardening, and other sustainable design practices. The program focused on what individuals could do for a more sustainable lifestyle with small-scale efforts.
