The ETCDC was asked to design a “Green” building addition that could also be used as a teaching tool to help the students and the community.

The design used sustainable strategies per LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).

The new two-story, 17,000 square-foot addition was completed in 2014. Belle Morris now has eight new classrooms, plus a new art room and a geo-thermal HVAC system.

Belle Morris Elementary School is one of North Knoxville’s oldest schools. Belle Morris Elementary School is one of North Knoxville’s oldest schools. As an Earth Flag School, Belle Morris currently exhibits a dedication to teaching and practicing environmental preservation.

The ETCDC and volunteer professional adviser, Elizabeth Eason, AIA, were asked to design a “Green” building addition that could also be used as a teaching tool to help the students and the community. The design used sustainable strategies per LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). Sustainable renovations to the historical school included a 17,000-square-foot two-story addition; several new classrooms with natural day-lighting; a new art room, a music room, and a Geothermal HVAC system.
