The Knoxville Museum of Art asked the ETCDC to help them prepare for expansion when the facility constructed in 1990 no longer accommodated their needs.  The north garden space was underutilized and had not reached its full potential.

ETCDC staff, alongside professional volunteer advisors Bruce McCarty and Doug McCarty, developed alternatives that the museum could use to address the pedestrian connection to the World’s Fair Park, open the museum to the Fort Sanders neighborhood, create a more welcoming experience for visitors and provide a new gallery and educational wing.
