Typical of many neighborhood park projects to come, Mary Vestal Park was a community-driven effort to improve their local city park. Architect Ron Childress led a task force that would later include architect Gene Burr to create a park design that resulted in new picnic shelters, play structures, improved parking, and the first section of what is to become the Goose Creek Greenway.
