The Bruce McCarty Community Impact Award is granted to those who have demonstrated a commitment to building a better future for this region.

The 2024 recipient of the Bruce McCarty Community Impact Award is Jerry Askew - a prominent figure in the Knoxville community with an extensive background in higher education, theology, and nonprofit work. He currently serves as the Archdeacon of the Episcopal Diocese of East Tennessee, where he works with 16 active deacons across 43 churches. His role involves both spiritual leadership and addressing systemic issues to help the community at large. Jerry also had a 16-year tenure as Senior Vice President at Tennova Healthcare and helped improve the organization's community outreach and philanthropic efforts. His connection with Saint Mary's Health System, which became part of Tennova, allowed him to build strong relationships with local faith-based and community organizations, further amplifying his impact on the Knoxville region. In addition to his work duties, Askew has been involved in various civic and community engagement opportunities, serving on over 50 local boards, councils, and committees in East Tennessee. His contributions to philanthropy and service have been recognized both locally and nationally.

The Annette Anderson Directors' Award is granted annually to clients of the East Tennessee Community Design Center who have demonstrated a commitment to making East Tennessee a better place.

This award is a tribute to the legacy of Annette Anderson and the contributions she made to this region through her leadership and passion for our community. Annette served as Executive Director of the Design Center for over twenty years, and was among a handful of people who crafted what became the essence of ETCDC. Her vision, her relentless insistence on broad community involvement, and her commitment to quality design nurtured what has become the Design Center’s legacy. The award is presented to celebrate and perpetuate the qualities of Annette Anderson in building a better future for East Tennessee. The 2024 Annette Anderson Directors' Award goes to Union County's Heritage Park. To learn more, click below.
