Tom McAdams, Esquire, has been named the ETCDC's 2021 Bruce McCarty Community Impact Award recipient. The award is granted to those who have demonstrated a commitment to building a better future for this region. More info on the award and past recipients can be found here.
Tom is from West Tennessee and attended the University of Tennessee where he graduated from the College of Law. He practiced law in Knoxville for over forty years with Bernstein Stair & McAdams LLP, focusing on business matters and real estate development. Tom has served as special construction counsel for the Public Building Authority on numerous projects; these include downtown parking garages, the KUB Building, and the redevelopment of World's Fair Park. He was also general counsel of The Development Corporation of Knox County as well as Knox Heritage. As a Commissioner of the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority, he participated in the review and approval of the design for the new terminal. This design included the use of natural building elements, interior landscapes and water features.
For twenty-five years, he has served on the Board of Directors of the Lakeshore Park Conservancy, helping to oversee expansion and development of the 185-acre park. During that period, he has worked with numerous design and other professionals on the creation of and updates to the park’s master plan. He has also helped with overseeing design and construction of park improvements. Some of these include: renovations of the chapel into an open air facility, restoration of a woodland marsh, creation of garden areas, and the construction of Marble Pavilion, the HGTV Overlook, and a boardwalk on the Tennessee River and Fourth Creek.
We are honored to present the 2021 Bruce McCarty Community Impact Award to Tom on August 11th as part of our Celebration at Lakeshore Park! Check our events page to get your tickets (you can click here too) and we hope to see you there!
